R.Connelly, who has been teaching at Youngsville, S.C., for the past ten months, is at home for the summer. The Mayor and Commissioners for the town of Lenoir, elected last Monday will take charge of affairs in said town tomorrow. For the month of Apiil Register Miller issued twenty-five marriage license. More than twice the number that was issued in March. Mr. W. J. Palmer, of North Wilkesboro, was in Lenoir this week shaking hands with old friends and looking after business matters. Honor Roll. At the town election held last Monday for Mayor and three Com missioners. Mr. Thomas M. New land received for Mayor 219 votes, and A. V. Miller received 84, and for Commissioners, W. J. Lenoir receiVed 219, O. P. Lutz 220, J. C. Seagle 213, T. F. Seehorn 78, E. F. Wakefield 60 and Molton Triplett 74. Newland, Lenoir, Lutz and Seagle were declared elected. The election passed off as it usu ally does in Lenoir, quietly aud or derly. New Industry. One of the most interesting places to visit in this town is the harness factory of the Price-dine Harness & Tanning Co. The man ufacture of horse collare by ma chinery is something new for our town and is an intensly interest ing performance. The company is now working only a partial force and can turn out ten dozen horse collar per day. The factory has a capacity of 25 or 80 dozen when run on full time. Many of our readers will be sur prised to know that so important a manufacturing industrv as this ins grown up here in our town ithin the last year or so. Wilkesboro Chronicle. Mrs. Ed Claywelll, of Morgan ton, died last Tuesday at the hos pital in States ville, where she had gone for treatment. The body was taked to her home in Morgan ton Wednesday. Ise'nhour, W, D. Oxford. Mrs. Coffey Entertains. WilkeBboro Hustler. On Friday afternoon one of the liveliest sessions of the Book Club was held with Mrs. C. D. Coffey. The gentle breath of spring fanned every nook and corner, a decora tive feature in pink aud green wa$ lelightfully carried out in the hall nd parlor, wild honeysuckle le- ng used, riand painted score cards representing a flower were given each guest, and a most en joyable flower contest in many forms was delightfully carried out. An event greatly welcomed by a1! wasthe privilegeof a stroll through the mystic flower garden where most puzzling and perplexing flowers presented themselves for a name. Next followed a contest for brides, allowing those who had not been married more than two years, and for this contest Mrs. J. Q. My ers won the prize. The pleasures of the afternoon were still enhanced by the rendering of several selec tions loth vocal and instrumental by Mrs. Harper and Miss LeGrand. The main prize of the afternoon was awarded to Miss Ella Camp In?!!, a handsome bociuet of Mar- halneille roses. Delicious refresh ments in two courses were served. Hie color scheme was carried out in the refreshments which herald the coming spring. Mr. and Mrs. C. 1 .
